An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.
These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.
Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of people injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.
The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
